Christmas and New Year payment dates for social welfare recipients. As the festive season approaches, adjustments to payment schedules have been outlined to ensure recipients are informed and can plan accordingly.

For those receiving weekly social welfare payments, normal payments will be disbursed during the week commencing Monday, December 18th, accompanied by an advanced payment for the subsequent week. This standard arrangement applies to payments issued through post offices, by cheque, or directly into financial institution accounts.

The specific payment dates during the Christmas and New Year period are as follows:

  • December 18-22, 2023: No change. Recipients will receive their regular weekly payment, with a double payment to cover both the week commencing December 18th and the following week commencing December 25th.
  • December 23-25, 2023: Payments scheduled for December 23rd and 25th will be issued on December 22nd.
  • January 1, 2023: Payments due on January 1st will be made on December 29, 2023.

To ensure smooth processing and avoid disruptions, individuals planning to leave the state during the Christmas period while receiving income support from the Department of Social Protection are advised to notify the department in advance. This can be done by visiting a local Intreo Centre or Branch Office.

It is important to note that all department offices, including Intreo Centres and Branch Offices, will be closed on December 25th, December 26th, 2023, and January 1st, 2024. Recipients are encouraged to plan accordingly and make any necessary arrangements in light of these closures. The comprehensive disclosure aims to provide clarity and assistance to social welfare beneficiaries during the holiday season.
