Claiming Mortgage Interest Relief is easy. Just follow these steps:

What You Need:

  • Certificate of Mortgage Interest for 2022 and 2023
  • Confirmation of your loan balance as of December 31, 2022

For PAYE Taxpayers:

  1. Log into myAccount.
  2. Go to ‘PAYE Services’ and ‘Manage My Record.’
  3. Upload your documents in the Receipts Tracker.

For Form 11 Filers:

  1. Use ROS’s ‘Upload Supporting Documents’ service under ‘Other Services.’

Claiming as a PAYE Taxpayer:

  1. Sign in to myAccount.
  2. Click ‘Review your Tax 2020-2023.’
  3. Request a ‘Statement of Liability’ for 2023.
  4. Click ‘Complete your Income Tax Return.’
  5. Under ‘Tax Credits & Reliefs,’ choose ‘You and your family,’ then click ‘Mortgage Interest Tax Credit.’
  6. Follow the instructions to claim.
  7. Submit your Income Tax Return.

Claiming if You’re Self-Assessed:

  1. Sign in to ROS.
  2. Navigate to ‘My Services.’
  3. Click ‘File Return.’
  4. Select ‘Income Tax.’
  5. Choose tax year 2023.
  6. Find the ‘Mortgage Interest Tax Credit’ section and input your details.

    Hi Claire I need your help 🙏🙏. I’m on a pension from the defence forces where do I go on My account to claim the mortgage interest relief . I owed 80,526.30 as of the 31 Dec 22
